Both Drivers Killed in Head-On Bastrop County Car Accident

When people are tired or even exhausted, they are advised by those who promote safe travel not to drive for obvious reasons.  When someone is in danger of falling asleep behind the wheel, their attention and focus both tend to drift.  This creates a very dangerous situation even if that driver does not fall asleep.  Tragically, police suspect that one driver involved in a head-on Bastrop County car accident did fall asleep behind the wheel, and both drivers were killed as a result of the crash.

According to the authorities, the fatal, head-on Bastrop County car accident occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 9 a.m.  A 19-year-old man was driving on FM 2336 near Holiday Drive, just north of Camp Swift.  After the man fell asleep, his vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic and into the path of a vehicle being driven by a 50-year-old woman.  The two vehicles collided, and both drivers were killed instantly.  A passenger in the vehicle being driven by the 19-year-old was taken to a hospital and listed in fair condition.

Study Reveals That 15 Percent of Texas Drivers are Uninsured

Thu, Nov 17, 2011

Posted in: Auto Accidents, Insurance, Texas Injury Attorney

Texas is like every other jurisdiction in the United States in that all drivers in the state are required to carry auto insurance in case they are involved in Texas car accidents.  While this law can carry relatively stiff penalties if it is violated in terms of fines, these penalties are apparently not enough to deter many people from failing to carry the proper amount of insurance coverage on their vehicles, according to the conclusions of a study that was recently released.

The Insurance Research Council recently completed a study of motorists in Texas, and it concluded that as many as 15 percent of people who drive in the state do not carry auto insurance.  This percentage does not include people who may be under-insured, which presents a similar problem when they are involved in Texas car accidents.  Many people who are injured in a crash with an uninsured or an under-insured motorist mistakenly feel that they have no options for recourse if they incur damages as a result of a crash.

Texas Car Accident Statistics

While there are no available statistics regarding the number of uninsured or under-insured motorists who are involved in Texas car accidents, it’s safe to say that many people who do not carry coverage are involved in and perhaps cause crashes.  Overall, more than 200,000 people are injured in Texas car accidents every year, and more than 3,000 people are killed.

Texas Personal Injury Lawyers

When someone is injured or worse in a Texas car accident that involves an uninsured driver, that injured person does have legal rights and options.  One such option is to seek a recovery from that injured person’s insurance policy if he or she has purchased uninsured motorist coverage, often labeled ‘UIM’ on an insurance policy.  Another option is to file a Texas personal injury lawsuit directly against that other driver.

If you or someone you love has been harmed in a crash of this type and you’re having problems obtaining a proper recovery, seek the help of Texas personal injury lawyers who have been fighting for the rights of clients in this difficult position for many years.  Contact The Parker Law Firm today to schedule a free initial consultation.

When Texas car accidents occur, anyone who was nearby could ultimately be found responsible for the crash and as a result for the injuries that were incurred.  However, a 2-year-old child would almost never be responsible for such an occurrence, and tragically it was a child of that age who was killed last weekend in a Waco car accident.  Police have not yet ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash, and they are continuing with their investigation.

According to the authorities, this fatal Waco car accident occurred on Saturday night at approximately 9 p.m.  A 24-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet sedan with a 2-year-old passenger when he attempted to turn eastward onto Bagby from Cooperation Parkway.  As he did so, he was hit by the driver of a Ford truck that was reportedly moving at a high rate of speed in an eastbound direction on Bagby.  The truck hit the sedan from behind and the Chevrolet burst into flames.  The child did not survive the accident.
